Digital Assets

Digital assets are, in essence, classified as images, multimedia and textual content files. Many of us today access photographs, videos, music, e-books, blogs, movies, emails, conversations, social media, games, bank accounts, medical records, and even maintain their identity - all online.

These digital assets can be just as precious and important as physical assets that you can touch. The majority of our digital assets possess monetary and/or sentimental value.

But do we have a plans regarding digital assets? You need to consider what happens when you die or if at any time you lose mental capacity to manage your own affairs. Read More Here

Webinar Series - The Evidence-Based Investor

As you may know, I often talk about the fact that having a plan is the first and most important step that anyone can have when considering their financial future. I also firmly believe that investments must be in service to that plan and should only come into the equation once you have an idea as to where you are headed.

Once the destination has been identified, we then need to look at what we should invest in to give ourselves the best chance of success. With this in mind, I am delighted to be hosting a talk with Robin Powell, aka "The Evidence-Based Investor”. Robin is a straight-talking journalist and author specialising in finance and investing.

His book Invest Your Way To Financial Freedom, co-authored with Ben Carlson has just been published by Harriman House. Robin believes there are few bigger priorities for people today than investing for the future. He believes a combination of the rising cost of health and education, soaring house prices, longer life expectancy, and the increasing strain on welfare budgets means it’s vital that everyone does what they can to remain financially independent for the rest of their lives.

But, he says, many financial professionals, including advisers, fail to acknowledge what decades of peer-reviewed tell us about how to invest. He’s therefore on a mission to give investors the information they need to succeed.

This talk should give you the tools to allow you to succeed.

Does Market Timing Work

As you know all investments have risks, there are things you can do as a long-term investor to manage those risks and be prepared.

With that in mind, to my knowledge, there has never been a documented, real-world study done by anyone ever showing that repeatedly moving from the market to cash and back to the market works. You would need to be right about when to get out, then when to get in and do it over and over again.

There is a world of difference between short-term speculation, which is picking stocks or timing the market, and investing which is long-term and goal-driven.

The issue with speculating is that if you get burned just once, it will most likely be "game over” and your performance permanently affected, meaning that you may likely outlive your money through a 30 plus year retirement.

See a quick video where I take a quick look at the evidence behind why market timing doesn't work when it comes to your long-term financial security.
